Are you using Facebook Pages to promote your business? If so, you’ll want to be aware of a big change to the way that Facebook will be showing your posts in their user’s news feeds.
According to a post on Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s news feed, Facebook will be giving business’ posts on Facebook less prominence in the future and putting more focus on personal posts from friends and family.
How will this affect me?
Until Facebook go into more detail about the changes that they’re making, it’s hard to tell. However it does seem clear that they’re looking to show business’ posts much less. If this is the case, you’re likely to see a drop in views and engagement on your business’ posts. Mark Zuckerberg himself confirms in his post that he expects that “some measures of engagement will go down”.

What can I do?
Although Social Media should be a large part of your digital marketing strategy, you shouldn’t put all of your eggs in one basket. It’s important to maintain a diverse marketing output and spread your efforts across many platforms. As well as Facebook, you should also be engaging with your users on the likes of Twitter and Instagram.
If you’re business is wholly reliant on any one platform for engaging users then it’s time to review your marketing strategy. Relying too much on one platform means that if, like today, one of these platforms decides to make a major change then your business could be hit hard.
